Overview

As a component of The Windsor-Essex Parkway, the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) is proceeding with the construction of two bridges and a noise barrier. One bridge is located where Highway 3 will pass over the proposed Windsor-Essex Parkway and the other will provide a future off-ramp from Highway 401 westbound to Highway 3 and the realigned Howard Avenue. This work includes the installation of approximately two kilometres of five metre high noise barrier, adjacent to the Southwood Lakes community, from Howard Avenue to North Talbot Road.

Facca Construction Inc. was awarded the $15.5 million contract to complete this project and construction began in December 2009. Work will take approximately one year to complete. Residents have been informed of the work going on in their areas.

MTO is also proceeding with several demolitions in the area to make way for future utility work.  To date, five buildings have been demolished on Talbot Road, Malden Road, Huron Church Road and Cousineau Road.   Pillette Transfer Station was the successful bidder on the most recent contract valued at $11,000. They have demolished buildings on Talbot Road and are relocating 4699 Shadetree Court.  Work will be completed by May 1, 2010.  Two further contracts will be awarded in May and June to demolish buildings on Huron Church Road for utility relocation.
